Restructure Your Thinking

When a person is faced with an emergency, attack, or a sudden threat they do not have access to a clear and present mind. The panic and emotional turmoil produces emotional upset and conflict. Unless the person has had training to restructure their thinking, they are not going to be able to eliminate their fear and have clarity in their thoughts.

It is not uncommon to see a person walking down the street distracted by focusing on their phone, texting, and searching the internet. Drivers have accidents for the same reasons. It is important to have awareness of your surroundings when driving, walking, working and in living your life. It is important to be alert to what is going on around you so you can avoid being a victim of crime and accidents. By being fully alert and aware you are able to notice subtle nuances that can cause problems, that would otherwise be missed.

How To Mitigate Verbal Attacks

When someone verbally attacks you, it affects your emotions and you go into a state of anger, confusion, shock, or fear. Unless you have trained in how to respond to sudden threats you will go into a reactive state and not have access to balanced, clarity of thinking, and be able to make wise choices. The police are trained how to respond to crimes and emergency situations. Firemen are trained how to deal with fires, riots, health emergencies, and quirky behaviors. Children are taught at school what to do in case of an earthquake or emergency.

Unless we have restructured our thinking to stay focused we will not be able to remain calm and concentrate on what is going on in order to make good decisions about what course of action to take.

Meditation

Meditation is an excellent method to practice keeping your mind still and in the present. You first have to become aware of your thoughts in order to make changes in how you think. Learning to process your anger and negative emotions are essential to eliminate outbursts of emotions. An untrained mind will only focus on what is happening on the outside and not be able deal with the fear, negative emotions, and confusion. When people are upset it is not a good time to discuss the problem, so it best to calm down before talking about what to do. Talking to someone when they are fearful, anger, and upset will not create a solution to what is happening.

In my book, Insights for Self-Transformation, there are methods to eliminate negative energy. The Energy Transformation Technique is a method in how to let go of negative energy. Our thinking is guided by our energy. Negative energy attracts negative thinking. Someone that is depressed and sad is not thinking that the world is a wonderful place. Most people are not aware of what they are thinking.
